Cookies & storage
We don't track you.
MyResearchStudy sets no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies. We use a small amount of your browser's own storage to keep you signed in — nothing more. This page explains exactly what and why.

Why there's no cookie banner
Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, "PECR"), a website only has to ask for your consent before storing information on your device when that storage is not strictly necessary — for example, advertising, cross-site tracking, or non-essential analytics cookies.
We use none of those. The only storage we rely on is strictly necessary to sign you in and show your matches, which is exempt from the consent requirement. That's why you won't see a "manage cookies" pop-up — there'd be nothing optional to manage. If we ever add anything non-essential, we'll ask first, with a genuine "reject all" option that's as easy as "accept".
What we store on your device
All of the following live in your browser's local storage (not cookies) and never leave your device except when you're talking to our own service:
| What | Why | Essential? |
|---|---|---|
tb_me |
Remembers which registry profile is yours on this device, so your portal loads. | Yes |
| Sign-in session (set by Supabase) | Keeps you signed in after you click your magic link, so you don't have to sign in on every page. | Yes |
tb_volunteers |
Demo-only. In the prototype's offline demo mode it holds sample data locally; it stores no real personal data. | Yes (demo) |
We set no third-party advertising or tracking storage of any kind. Site usage is measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless — it stores nothing on your device, doesn't identify or profile you, and doesn't follow you to other sites.
Clearing it
Signing out from your account or portal clears your session and profile marker. You can also clear site data any time through your browser's settings. Because this storage is essential, clearing it simply signs you out — you'll sign back in with a fresh magic link.
More on your data
How we handle the information you give us — and the rights you have over it — is covered in our privacy policy. You can change what you share with research teams any time from your account.
